Grades 9-12 Athletic Development

All programming is developmentally appropriate, programmed and delivered by our Celtic Academy Strength and Conditioning Coach, and follows the Long Term Athlete Development (LTAD) Framework.



Celtic Academy Athletic Development 9
AD9 is intended to provide emerging student-athletes, or students with personal fitness goals, an opportunity to learn about training and how it connects to sport or one's personal life.  Students' time will be spent in the weight room and being out in the community participating in various sports or physical activities.  Students will build confidence in the weight room through the foundations of training, weight room etiquette, and exposure to program design.  The course will review and make connections between the fundamental movement skills, individual training, and sport or being active for life framework (dependent on student goals). 

The program is available at St. John Paul II Catholic School / Faculté Jean-Paul II and St. Joseph Catholic School.  The program is semester-based and costs $250.  This fee includes the costs for programming, community experiences, and includes a Celtic Academy T-shirt.

Celtic Academy Athletic Development 10
AD10 is intended to provide emerging student-athletes, or students with a passion for fitness, an opportunity to learn about training for athletic performance and/or life-long activity.  In the weight room, students will participate in developmentally appropriate training, and in the classroom, students will be exposed to the concepts of program design, nutrition for physical/sport performance, and leadership activities.  The program is not intended to be “sport specific”; it is to help students to improve their overall knowledge, understanding, and confidence in training to assist in furthering their athletic or personal fitness potential.  The program also includes CALM and other high school CTS credits.

Athletic Development 10 is available at St. John Paul II Catholic School / Faculté Jean-Paul II and St. Joseph Catholic School.  The program is year-long and costs $300.  This fee includes the costs for programming, a Celtic Academy T-shirt, and a weight room membership at the school.

Celtic Academy Athletic Development 20/30 
AD20/30 is intended to provide athletes an opportunity to receive support in improving their athletic performance, OR is for those dedicated individuals who are on a continued path to leading a healthy, fit, and active lifestyle.  This is a unique opportunity that combines the expertise of our Celtic Academy Strength & Conditioning Coach, who designs and monitors a developmentally appropriate periodized program, while providing the students the knowledge and understanding of how training works for athletic development or personal fitness goals.  The program is not intended to be “sport specific”; although individual components of each sport or students' personal goals are considered during the design of their program.  The framework is to help the students improve their overall physical strength and conditioning abilities, and build confidence in training resulting in improved performance for their sport or personal life.

This class is based on an interview or screening process to ensure the quality of the program is maintained as it takes place at 7 a.m. during the school year.
