Avery Nairn

Alpine Skiing – 2007-2016

Avery competed in Alpine Skiing from an early age as a member of the Nitehawk Alpine Ski Team (NAST).  Her early years involved participation in the Nancy Greene Ski Program, progressing to U14 and U16 levels with NAST and then competing in the U18 FIS level-racing program with Snow Valley Racers - Edmonton.

Avery was a very dedicated member of the Celtic Sports Academy during Grades 10-12 and an Alberta Sport Development North West Athlete Enhancement Program recipient from 2012-2016.  She was honored with a nomination for Northwest Female Athlete of the Year in 2014-2015 and received numerous City of Grande Prairie Pursuit of Excellence scholarships over the years.  

Avery was very fortunate to be have been able to participate in and be a part of many events at an elite level.  Some of her accomplishments include:

  • Female Racer of the Year (NAST – 2008-2014)
  • 2012 and 2014 Arctic Winter Games (3 Gold, 1 Silver, Team Gold, Fair Play)
  • U14 and U16 Western Canadian Championships
  • U16 International Whistler Cup
  • U18 National Championships
  • St. Joseph Catholic High School – Grade 11 Achievement Award
  • Snow Valley Most Improved Female Athlete
  • Elite training sessions with Alberta Alpine (Legends Camps) in addition to training in Saas Fee, Switzerland 

Avery credits her success from continued support from her coaches, the Celtic Academy, ASDC – NW, teammates , teachers and family.
